Whether you’re a first-time grower or a seasoned cultivator, you’ll get a front-row seat to the magic of home cannabis cultivation with CheebaPet.

The Weekly Video Series will be posted on the CheebaPet YouTube Channel

One of the most satisfying aspects of growing your own cannabis is the control and customization it offers. You decide what goes into your plants—no chemicals, no pesticides, just pure, organic goodness. Plus, there’s something incredibly rewarding about watching your plants thrive under your care, knowing that each harvest is a reflection of your efforts. Experimenting with different strains also allows you to discover your personal favorites and how they best fit into your lifestyle—whether it’s for relaxation, creativity, or wellness.

We’re kicking things off with Zkittlez, our company mascot, an indica-dominant autoflower that’s as vibrant as its colorful namesake. Let’s dive into the planting process and what to expect from this sweet, flavorful strain.

Why Start with Zkittlez?

Zkittlez isn’t just a great strain—it’s the face of CheebaPet! With its tropical citrus aroma, rainbow-colored buds, and a perfectly balanced high, it’s a fan favorite for both growers and consumers. Plus, it’s a compact, easy-to-grow autoflower, making it an ideal way to start our 10-week growing series.

Beyond its aesthetics, Zkittlez gives growers the opportunity to explore different cannabis experiences. Learning to grow your own plants allows you to fine-tune your preferences, from terpene profiles to effects. Some growers might love Zkittlez for a relaxing evening wind-down, while others might appreciate its subtle euphoric effects during creative projects. Growing at home means you’re in full control of what you consume—from the soil to the smoke.

Zkittlez Autoflower Quick Facts:

  • Genetics: Grape Ape x Grapefruit x Ruderalis
  • Type: 60% Indica / 40% Sativa
  • Flowering Time: 10-14 weeks

Week 1: Planting Zkittlez Autoflower Seeds

The CheebaPet Planter Kit makes home growing easy, thanks to its proprietary SeedPod, which ensures consistent germination, proper planting depth, and optimal moisture retention—no guesswork needed!

Planting the Seed with the CheebaPet Planter Kit

  1. Prepare the Soil: Gradually add the included CheebaPet Pot Soil to your planter, mixing in small amounts of water until fully saturated. Leave ½ inch of space at the top to prevent overflow.
  2. Place the SeedPod: Use a spoon to carve out a small cavity in the center of the planter. Insert the SeedPod so it sits flush with the soil, then cover the edges lightly.
  3. Plant the Seed: Drop one seed into the hole in the SeedPod and press it in slightly, then add drops of water to thoroughly soak the SeedPod.
  4. Use the Hot-Pad: Activate the Hot-Pad by shaking and massaging it until warm. Place it on top of the SeedPod for the first overnight, then discard it.
  5. Record the Date: Use the Plant Tag to note the Planting Date as a reference.

Success Guarantee!

We want you to succeed! If your first seed doesn’t sprout within 7 days, plant the second seed included. If neither grows, email Wiz@CheebaPet.com for complimentary replacements.

What’s Next?

By next week, we should see our Zkittlez seed sprouting and entering its seedling stage! We’ll cover early seedling care, lighting adjustments, and watering cycles to ensure strong root development along with the Planting of the next CheebaPet strain, BruceBanner.

Appendix: Fun Facts About Plant Growth

Gravitropism: How the Taproot Knows Where to Grow

Ever wonder how a tiny cannabis seed knows which way is up and which way is down? It’s all thanks to gravitropism (also called geotropism)—a plant’s natural ability to sense gravity and direct its growth accordingly.

How the Taproot Senses Gravity

  • Statoliths: The Gravity Sensors
Inside special root cells (statocytes), tiny starch-filled organelles called statoliths settle at the lowest part of the cells due to gravity. These act as natural sensors, signaling the root to grow downward.
  • Hormonal Response: Auxins at Work
Once statoliths settle, the plant redistributes auxins (growth hormones) to control growth direction.
  • Auxins slow down growth on the lower side of the root, making the upper side grow faster.
  • This imbalance forces the root to curve and grow downward.
  • Cell Expansion & Growth
As the root elongates, it continually senses gravity, adjusting as needed. The root cap also detects soil resistance and helps navigate around obstacles.

Why This Matters for Cannabis Growth

  • A strong taproot anchors the plant securely in its growing medium.
  • Deep roots help maximize water and nutrient absorption.
  • Healthy root growth prevents weak or stunted plants.
  • Even if a seed is planted sideways or upside down, the taproot will always find its way downward!

Understanding gravitropism helps growers optimize conditions for strong root development, leading to healthier, more resilient cannabis plants. 🌱🚀
